Eds Callingham: Bellcaire, Catalunya; I started this style of painting when my baby daughter needed something to brighten up the walls of her room. I couldn't find anything I liked in the shops so I decided to paint a colourful interpretation of the Empordà countryside. After that I thought it would be fun to add a few Catalan animals and some Catalans too!

"Vaig començar a pintar així quan la meva filla necessitava alguna cosa per millorar les parets de la seva habitació. No trobava res que m'agradés a les botigues així que vaig decidir pintar una interpretació colorista del paisatge de l'Empordà. Després vaig pensar que quedaria divertit pintar alguns animals i gent del camp catalans" (special thanks goes to Julia Fulquet for the Catalan corrections!)
